i know many people are far more knowledgeable than i when it comes to ripping, but i'm sure others have wondered the same things as me.

Have completed 90% of my cd collection and am about to embark on my cd's that need 're-ripping'

with those songs that show as 'secure' but 'innaccurate', i'm not sure what this actually means.... and as yet found if there's anything i can do for these tracks.

i think a little more info on what these things mean in the guides might be useful. The guide is clear on how to tell when things go right, but i've had a slow learning curve on learning errors / when it's a scratched disc or when every track has an error.

next challenge is my dreaded copy protected cd's

not a great example when the rest of the tracks have only a confidence rating of 1, but this sort of thing. when other tracks are accurate, but 2 or 3 rip securely, but innaccurate.

also not sure why the log indicates file name as listing under mydocuments\my music when the files aren't being ripped to this location, but that's an asside note i just discovered.

You cannot be sure if it is your disc or the other guys disc which has the problem when the confidence is 1.

Spoon, could you please be more detailed in your explainions. I am also trying to learn, and being a brand new newbie, I also see a very minimal info on these details.

as an example, please explain if you can what the differences are here in these two items.

I see many variations listed after a rip.

Some tracks have an X and highlighted in red more infor like AR. Sometimes the X and info is not in red, and just gray.

Then, some of my best clean factory pressed CDs come up with a AR (14), and other (1). The (14) rip went very fast, as if a (14) is the better outcome.

So is confidence (1) better than confidence or a number (14)?

Is this info in the help guide? I see to see different values from disc to disc, but often an entire disc will be all (4), or all (1), etc.

and two tracks show as inaccurate (confidence 5) but secure

am i right in my thinking... the secure rip didn't detect any errors in the rip, but the track didn't match the 5 submitted to accuraterip? hence it ripped securely,but inaccurate?
implying there's an error that wasn't picked up.
thus when the confidence is 1 - you don't know who's is wrong

actually i thought i was starting to understand it better until i came across this result.
most tracks ripped accurately, BUT
track 3 just notes it ripped 'securely' no comment on being inaccurate
same for track 10
but track 23 says secure, but inaccurate.
i also note only these 3 tracks have (NEW) against the CRC
so how do you interpret results like this???

Correct the error was not picked up by the secure ripper.

Track 3 (same for track 10) in your Log I am not sure where the AR verification has gone, try ripping just track 3 on its own.

On the same theme:
What is the significance of the red and green CRC results (8 character alphanumerics) on the CD_Ripper screen, i.e. what does red and green mean?
These results are given in the column next to the Rip_Status result column.

Red = crcs from last 2 rips do not match, green = matches.
