Questions on how to playback ripped CDs

I am totally new to CD ripping and using dbpoweramp. I ripped a few CDs as a trial run and then tried to play them back on my laptop. Being that I am totally clueless to using dbpoweramp I can not figure out how to playback the CDs I ripped. I have used the Windows Media Player before to rip, burn and playback CDs on my desktop with no issues.

Do I have to have a specific media player on my laptop to play CDs ripped using dbpoweramp? I plan on ripping about 500 CDs and have read that dbpoweramp is the best way to go as I want to have exact copies using flac. I am using the 21 day trial version of dbpoweramp if that matters. Also is there a guide to using dbpoweramp for newbies like myself?

Any assistance for this totally clueless newbie would be appreciated:D.

    Thanks, Bill

dBpoweramp by default rips to FLAC, Windows Media player cannot read flac, so you can choose a different audio format, or different audio player (such as Media Monkey).

As Spoon mentioned, the default is FLAC, but you could change that to (say) WMA Lossless, if you wanted WMP compatability.

But for more flexability, look at another player. I have been using FooBar 2000 and really like it. It can play almost any format (FLAC, WMA, MP3, and a whole lot more) and is one of the most customizable programs I have ever seen. Recommended.

        Spoon and Michael,

Thanks for your help and suggestions! I DL'd Media Monkey and it worked fine. I will try FooBar 2000 as well. I have a lot to learn but it will be enjoyable (I hope). Thanks again.
