New to DBPoweramp - files much smaller than estimate

Hi - I am evaluating DBPoweramp - very impressed so far.

However, I notice that the files that I get when I rip to FLAC are much smaller than are estimated in the RIP screen. Is there a reason for that??

For example, I ripped 4 tracks of a CD on various FLAC compression levels. The results are:

FLAC Level Estimated file Actual file
    0 100.4mb 77.1
    3 94.6 71.4
    5 89.7 54.2
    8 89.1 53.9

The raw size for these files was given as 137mb.

    thanks - Roy

Perhaps the type of audio you are ripping? the estimate is a general estimate, now if you Rip Heavy Metal, it will be larger than a vocal only track.

So, probably nothing to worry about??

This was a Sinatra compilation. I had a similar result with a solo piano CD. Have not yet tried full orchestra!

yeah alot of content like that compresses much easier than say the latest slipknot.

and since its older music there was probably not a lot of stereo separation etc, making it easier to compress
