Secure Mode Test Reports No Read Buffer? Probably a Win 7 Error?

Installed a brand new Asus DRW-22B2S. Works fine. I've burned a few things with it already.

newegg (details Tab) lists a 2 MB Cache. Seems Pretty standard to me.

    I checked accuraterip.com and the Asus DRW-22B2S Offset is a +6 with 20 people reporting. 100% accurate.

DbPowerAmp configured it easily with one cd. I ripped 4 CD's that were in the Accurip database. Clean rip & verified.

Next CD wasn't in Accurip. So I went to configure Secure Mode. Did the Read Buffer test with a Brand New CD that I just bought. After about 2 minutes it reports back no read buffer? :thumbdown That seems a bit odd. I thought every Optical Drive had a cache. :D This drive is supposed to have 2 MB.

Is this an error? Is Win 7 screwing around and not letting the test read correctly?

I just upgraded from R13.3 to R14. The upgrade ran fine without having to uninstall the old version.

I won't rip any more CD's until I get this resolved. Especially in Secure Mode. That No Read Buffer setting doesn't seem right.

Is there a shareware app that tests the read buffer on a dvd/CD drive? A second opinion might be helpful. At least then I could compare results with dbpoweramps test.

Drives can have a cache but not use it for audio, anyhow set a 1024 KB cache as no drive has a larger than this audio cache.

      Thanks Spoon.

I'll go ahead and put 1024 kb (the default) back into that field.

I guess, Clear Read cache FUA and C2 Error Pointers need to stay unchecked? Running these tests on this drive probably won't work since the first cache test failed.

Test for c2, leave fua unchecked.
