CLI encoder + flac.exe > "Highest Quality Decoded Source" needed?

    Hey there!

For my ripping workflow I've decided to use the CLI encoder and flac.exe (latest release - 1.2.1) directly in dbpoweramp. Now I wonder if the switch "Highest Quality Decoded Source" in the CLI options is needed here.

I've ripped a track twice, once with this option enabled and second time without, and I can't find any differences (same file size and foobar2k bit comparer also says the files are identical).

So does this option affect flac.exe in any way?

It is not needed if the source is lossless.

How the call to the external compressor is changed (technically) when this option is set (and maybe the source isn't lossless)?

      Edit:
And 2nd question: Does this option make any sense when used in dbpoweramp CD ripper? I mean, it can "only" rip CDs, so the source should always be lossless, shouldn't it?

Why not use the dBpoweramp FLAC encoder? it is built with the FLAC official libraries.

I like the idea to use the encoder directly to not only encode, but also to write the tags directly. So I need direct access to the command line which is passed to the encoder.

dBpoweramp would be writing the ID tags for FLAC in anycase.

dBpoweramp will not modify the FLAC files in any way if "dB Wirite ID Tags" is not checked, right?

                No it should not.
