    Ripping problems

On many CDs I get errors on 2 or 3 tracks during the rip. I then have to rip those tracks again and they rip fine. The errors seem to come whenever I access the hard drive for another reason. Even just switching to a different directory can cause a rip error in dbp. The error message says something like unable to open file, check that another program is not accessing the file.

Would using the cache help stop these errors? Am I correct in that as long as accurate rip verifies my tracks with a healthy number then my rip is secure even if I use the cache?

Or is my problem not related to cache at all?

You should never see this error on a PC, try updating your motherboard chipset drivers, make sure your HDDs are in DMA mode.

Thanks for the reply. I found that the external hard drive I'm using was optimized for quick removal (no cache) rather than optimized for performance. I changed that setting and hopefully that will solve the problem.
