    a pattern is emerging

i have started to rip my cd collection and a few discs have shown errors and dbpoweramp reports that it can not read the disc.
They all play perfectly, dbpoweramp is even able to identify the meta data.
What they all have in common is that they have a large ring on the outer edge of the disc and are all made by warner music.
I have tried disabling c2 correction and even burst mode but to no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How many discs? try the 'Defective by design' ripping option, but it is also down to the cd drive if the disc can be ripped.

5 out of about 50 so far, (three are the first 3 muse albulms). i had a feeling you were going to say it might be the disk drive. i shall try the defective by deign option before trying a different drive.
Thanks for your response, i'll let you know how i get on.

I am having the same problem. I've ripped about 1,000 CD's and have never had an issue. Now I've bought three CD's by the Pogues (Warner) and I'm not having any luck. They are brand new. I tried defective by design but it did nothing. I downloaded EAC but it seems complicated and not user friendly...is there any work around? Or is possibly another issue? For two of them metadata is recognized (just won't rip), for the 3rd, no luck.
            Thanks
