Question about index positions & ultra secure passes

    Hello!

I've recently purchased dbpoweramp R14 and trying a few settings to set up my ripping workflow.
I've enabled the column "Index Positions" in the main window. Now I got a CD where the display of the index position of a single track looks a bit strange: On all track except this one the index positions are displayed as "Index 1 00:00.00". On the one track, it says "Index 103 00:00.00, Index 1 04:00.26". Could anybody explain what this means?

Second question is about the ultra secure passes: I've read the help files which are installed with dbpoweramp. On one page (cd-ripper-setup-guide.htm) the recommended settings for ultra secure passes are as follows:
If your drive supports C2 pointers, set as Minimum Ultra Passes: 1 Maximum Ultra Passes: 2 End After Clean Passes: 1

If your drive does not support C2 pointers, set as Minimum Ultra Passes: 2 Maximum Ultra Passes: 4 End After Clean Passes: 2
On the other page (CDadvanced.htm), other recommendations are given:
    * Drive Supports c2 error pointers well enable Ultra Secure with Minimum 1, Maximum 6 and End after 1.
    * Drive Supports c2, but badly enable Ultra Secure with Minimum 2, Maximum 6 and End after 2.
    * Drive does not support c2 enable Ultra Secure with Minimum 3, Maximum 6 and End after 2.
    What are best settings here?

Also the recommendation for the number of re-reads differs on both pages: with C2 support, one says 60, the other 700. Isn't 700 little bit too much? Even with good C2 support, won't the chance of a consistent error be much higher with 700? Again, what's the best recommendation?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Re: Question about index positions & ultra secure passes

Some times the index is not read correctly on certain drives (does it show index 103 for the start of all discs?)

I would use the settings on cd-ripper-setup-guide.htm first.

700 could be used for specific CDs you are trying to recover, 60 is a good starting point (for mass ripping).

Well, strangely it's not the first track with this weird index position, it's the 9th track of a 10 track CD. This happens with both of my Plextor drives (Premium & PX-716A), on my Pioneer DVD-RW (DVR-217F), all the tracks have index positions of "Index 1 00:00.00". Haven't seen something like that on any other CD though.
Could this lead to any problems when ripping this CD with my Plextor drives? Possibly not, because all the tracks got verified by AR...

sounds like the track has 'hidden track' index aka pre-gap on that particular track

It's AC/DC's Back In Black. I would know it if there is a hidden track or something.
Furthermore, EAC should recognize the same index positions, but it doesn't...

Well, found a few other CDs with weird index positions on my Plextor drives. Are the gap and index positions of any importance for ripping? Because, if you haven't enabled the corresponding columns in the main window, these information is not retrieved from the disc at all.

Only if you are writing CueSheets.

                How come?
EAC doesn't have any problems, so it shouldn't be the drives fault.

The code has only existed for a number of months, there are many different drives out there that do different things...

I am getting two index positions reported for tracks in the middle of Led Zeppelin III (4, 5 & 6 from memory.
The same three tracks are flagged from both my internal and external drives.

                    What can this mean?
Also I am surprised that AccurateRip is only reporting 5 or 6 "Acurates" for each track; it is a very popular album.
