cannot add 'album artist' to id tag with wav files

Hi,
I'm trying to use the "Edit Id Tag" Windows Explorer context menu to add the "album artist" id tag to a bunch of wav files. While the file does appear to be written to (the modified date changes), the file length remains the same (not sure if it should increase), but more importantly the tag is not added.
This is with the up to date build..

If you right click >> Edit tag, does it then show the added Album artist? which tagging have you got for wave? LIST and id3?

Hi Spoon,

nope, doesnt show the album artist. I use the "+ Add" button at the bottom and the selected "Album Artist", enter the name and then click Ok to confirm. This updates the modified date of the file but when I check using Edit Tag it hasnt added it. It also doesnt show it when I just hover over the file..

Not sure about whether its LIST/id3? It's whatever the default is when ripping with dbPowerAmp.. how do I check?

The reason why I want to set the Album Artist is so that when I convert to mp3 the correct folder is created instead of "Unknown Artist"...

Hold the mouse over the file, it shows the type of ID tag in the contains section.

List cannot store the album artist, you would have to store as the id3 chunk.

by default LIST and ID3 chunks are written to wave files without ID Tags.

Are you editing tags in an existing file (with a LIST tag) or are you writing the whole wave file with dBpoweramp?

i'm trying to add the tag to an existing wave file, trying to avoid having to re-rip using dbpoweramp.

maybe i should have used FLAC instead of WAV to rip my CD collection?

What is the player going to be (what is reading the wave file?)

actually, the wave files are just for archiving. i use dbpoweramp to convert them en masse to mp3 for my laptop. and there i find it inconvenient if the mp3 files end up in a folder which isnt using the album artist\album naming scheme. also i think it'd be nicer if i could search using windows media player all files by a particular album artist.

You are better with something other than wave if you want album artist.
