    Should I get this?

    Hello everyone.
I am a music lover and own a 2 channel rig. I just got a squeezebox and am very excited on the possibilities this new (to me) technology brings.

I'm thinking on going the convenient path of ripping my music and streaming it.

I own an ipod an have itunes storing a portion of my music collection. I learned about dbpoweramp through the wonderful world of internet that shows us all those things we need and must have

So I have a couple of questions:

1.-Can I completely replace itunes if I get this? Can I sync my ipod with this? Or would I have to convert the FLAC's to a smaller file and move it to itunes? Is there an easy way to do this, or would I have to copy/paste song by song? Any tricks to do this?

2.-What the heck is Perfectmeta? Do I need this to run dbpoweramp? Would I need/want to extend this after the first year, and at what cost?

Thanks for helping a newbie (but excited) in the world of streaming music!!

dBpoweramp would not sync your iPod, it rips the discs. People with iPods might use the 'Multi-Encoder' when ripping to create a FLAC & mp3 file at the same time.

Perfect Meta is the metadata (from 5 providers). It is helpful to have when ripping, and costs $5 a year.

Thanks Spoon. Sounds like a nice option. Would this process place the mp3 file directly on itunes, or would that need to be done separately?

You can simply copy your newly ripped mp3 files into the "automatically add to itunes folder" (should be somewhere like this:

        C:\Users\Your Username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Automatically Add to iTunes\

If you've setup itunes to automatically organize your music (artist/album/track), it will put the tracks in the right place, create the directories, etc.

Thanks Gary. After further investigation and recommendations it seems that a good alternative is to use DBPA to rip into FLAC, and use MediaMonkey as the music manager. It syncs with ipod touch and converts the FLAC's to mp3 on the fly. Pretty convenient if this is actually true.

Just wanted to say that I did get it and am ripping all my collection. I am impressed on the speed this program rips.
