Unable to configure ASUS SDRW-08D1S-U with Accuraterip

Every time I load a cd into EAC.
It will say, something like
Expected offset +667 in Accuraterip datebasee but Sample Offset from cd is +103
Please enter 3 key discs.

I finally found 3 key discs accuraterip accepted. then it said, Accuraterip will not use this offset cause it does not match the one in the database.
accuraterip is disabled in the menu.

Why won't accuraterip just accept the offset from using the 3 key cds?

Or should I just not care about accuraterip all together? its annoying everytime I start eac, it has that accuraterip configuration screen only for it to say "Accuraterip will not use this offset"

I tried putting +667 in the offset in EAC menu but accuraterip is still disabled.
what gives?

It is unlikely the offset is +103, but perhaps there is another drive firmware. Try 3 more different discs and if they all give +103 then it could be so.

Until you can get the accuraterip to verify the offset it will not configure.

A majority of my discs Accuraterip doesn't seem to accept as key discs. only a select few of them.

It would never accept +103 unless we purge the whole drive from the database. Drives should not have multiple offsets.

It would not be until you have a matching CD.

None of my audio cds give out the +667 offset.
Looks like I'm just gonna have to ignore Accuraterip and rely on the
Test and Copy Burst mode in EAC.

sorry for double posting.
But apparently, Ive confirmed +103 is the offset for my ASUS SDRW-08D1S-U
and Accuraterip isn't lying.

In my rubyripper logs/CDParanoia
Ripping the last song from "The Coathangers - Scramble" cd would have errors when using +667 offset.
No errors were found and the copy was ok with +103 offset.

I will purge this drive from the database the next update (perhaps 4 weeks away).

Thanks for your quick reply to my post/question. Unfortunately, I'm experiencing the problem in spite of the purge (i.e., offset is read as +103, database says +667). I've tried at least a couple dozen or so CD's with the same result. I bought this slim combo drive to go with my new Asus slim/light laptop, which seems to be working very well so far. Probably not a good investment, and I will probably just give up on this one and try something else. I did have pretty good luck with the Pioneer drive (DVR-XD08) I bought for my son's netbook, so I may just swap them. Perhaps there are two versions of this particular drive, or maybe it's just a crappy drive? Not knowing any better, is it possible dBpoweramp is recognizing the drive as some other drive (i.e., mistaking it for some other drive) in the database? (Certainly the name and numbers that come up with the drive letter within dBpoweramp are the correct ones). Sorry to run on about this. Thanks again for your help. - Don Hittle
