getting alot of insecure rips

I am still getting alot of insecure/errors rips of cds. I have just bought a new liteon external CD/DVD burner, & I wipe my discs clean. But about 1 in 3 discs I rip comes up with errors & warnings, even when the discs look new. I even got an insecure warning on a brand new CD one time. Some of my CDs have just very faint marks on them, & they play ok on a CD player. This program seems to have problems with most discs unless they are brand new. The slightest mark on a CD gets errors. Are there an optimum numbers to set when setting up secure rip settings?

Enable the Complete secure logging option (Options >> Secure Settings), also the option to display the information log at the end of ripping (Options Drop Menu >> After Ripping)

Then post the log for one of your discs please.

what is it doing wrong? is there anywhere in the secure settings or settings in general, that I can adjust to make it work better? that is crazy, I just bought it from newegg early this march because I was having spotty success with my internal PC drives; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...=skim49X493850

I had a feeling something was amiss, it seems to be hit & miss with getting a complete secure rip. But I was having this issue before I bought this drive, I would get secure rips from CDs that look badly scratched, & insecure rips from Cds that look very good save for a light mark here or there.

What drives do you recommend? are there any under 80.00 US dollars that are any good?

on another note, it is an external writer, & I have not much space around my desk, so I have it on it's side next to my external hard drives, it came with a little stand to store vertically. Could it be causing little vibrations that are disrupting the ripping process from being in its side? would it be best lying flat??

This is getting rather expensive just to get consistent secure rips, I have even replace a couple of my CD with new copies to get secure rips. I just recently replaced another CD & a CD repair kit hoping this might help, as some of my CDs are a bit older & have had some wear.

There is nothing software can do if the drive is not reading the disc correctly (it is the last tracks which are the hardest to read, but a normal drive should not struggle).

so the way I am storing it or positioning the drive does not matter?

are there some drives you can recommend? so I don't keep getting bad drives? I guess I am having bad luck getting a good drive that can read discs with any consistency.

could it make a difference if the CD is an import? like an album that was pressed or made in England or Japan, as opposed to the US?

We do not have recommendations as the market changes every 6 months.

If I was you I would by 3 of the cheapest drives you can (all from different manufacturers), you will find then drives which can read certain discs and others which can read other discs.
