    FLAC default settings

When ripping to flac, unlike to mp3, it doesn't give the option to change to stereo, mono or joint stereo. My question is, does the ripper rip the cd as source, or will it try to rip a mono disc as stereo?

Every CD is stereo, even the mono CDs (in that there are 2 channels, just identical).

Internally FLAC will have automatic Joint Stereo / Cross-side routines.

Thanks for the quick reply. Okay, that answers that question. Now, when converting to mp3 using the music converter, I have been using joint stereo for cds that contain stereo and mono recordings or only mono recordings. Is there any problem with that, or should I use "as source"? Personally, I can't hear a bit of difference between stereo and joint stereo. Do my ears deceive me?

        Use [as source] where presented.
