Coldplay X&Y - all tracks inaccurate

    Hi,

So far I really like the dBPowerAmp ripper, but it failed to accurately rip my Coldplay X&Y album. All tracks appear inaccurate.

The disc has the note "This disc contains Copy Control Technology" on the backside, so technically, I guess it is not a real CD...

    What could be the problem?

    - Some copyprotection malware on the disk that prohibits the drive to read it correctly?
    - Do I have another pressing of the record? In that case, how could i search for others with the same pressing as mine in the database?

Try R14 from the beta section of this forum, it can check across multi-pressings.

Thanks for your quick response, installing the R14 beta did however not solve the problem.

If i rip the album twice, i get different CRC values every time, so there is something strange with the album, it seems. Any hints on how to proceed would be appreciated.

The copy protection must to fooling the drive, all you can do is try another drive and try to get a match with AR, or the same CRCs across drives.

I am currently using this drive, which is in your list on http://www.accuraterip.com/driveoffsets.htm.

          TSSTcorp - CD-DVDW TS-L632M +6 81 100%

Doesn't that mean that I should be ok?

I don't know this particular disc, but you could very well be as OK off as you can expect from those CDs. Some of these pesky copy protection schemes insert deliberate "holes" in the audio, leaving it up to the CD player to interpolate. As they deliberately contain some "I won't tell you, so you'll have to guess" bits, different CD players with different interpolation algorithms will deliver different bitstreams out to the listener.

You might still get AccurateRip hits by using the same drive as someone before you (that does not necessarily mean same drive model, as there are lots of models sharing vital parts of firmware), but otherwise you are out of luck with AccurateRip.
