    Disappearing semi-colon

    In order to separate multiple artists (or composers) I use semi-colons, but the semi-colons disappear after ripping after ripping them and I have to manually replace them in a tag editor file so that my music player recognizes the artists as multiple separate artists rather than one with a very long name. Is there a way to make sure the semi-colon stays in the tag so I don't have to do this time consuming task? Thanks so much...

        I have the same problem. The semi colon's ( turns into slash (/)

        Using external converter LAME to convert to mp3.

          Re: Disappearing semi-colon

          '; ' is used by dbpoweramp to separate multiple artists etc, and when writing to the respective formats the correct way of splitting the multiple artists are used, FLAC is:

          artist=artist1
          artist=artist2

          mp3 is:

          artist1/artist2

          We have a DSP effect to force '; ' (ID Tag Processing), but it is not recommended as the above examples are the correct ways of handling multi-artists.

            Spoon, I don't really understand your answer, maybe I'm not quite as technical.

            But here is the problem, the semi-colon disappears and then my players no longer recognize the artists as multiples, they recognize it as a single long artist. How can I make the semi-colon stay in the tag after ripping?

            Thanks,
            Adam

                  Insert the DSP effect ID Tag Processing and force '; ' (which is one of the options). Media Monkey should update their software...

                    squeezebox products read it correct as Spoon explained...

                    check with mp3tag and there you can see metadata. you will see that you have several ARTIS.
