FLAC Ripping Guide?

Hi

I've just started using this software and have made some searches but I cannot find any ripping guides for FLAC?

I read some other forums using dbpoweramp to set compression level to '8' for FLAC, yet the default is 5 (?). This is where I am confused. I thought FLAC is lossless and no compression? Then why do we need compression level?

Can someone please point me to the right direction?

5 is best, for minimum CPU % on decoding, the difference between 5 adn 8 is only about 1%

All flac modes are lossless.

FLAC is both lossless AND compression.
