Hi I'm new to this but have followed your secure set up guides.
I've read you FAQ about slow rip speed and my drive is set so that the transfer mode is set by the bios and is set to Ultra DMA 4 - Ultra 66
When I use burst mode the rip starts at ~4.5 x and after ~ 10 second you can hear the disc spool up and the ripping speed quickly rises to ~10x reaching ~20x after 30 seconds and will eventually reach 40x (the max for the drive) after ~ 2 minutes.
When I use secure mode it starts the same but the drive never spools up and it takes ages to rip :(
If I start the rip in burst mode & than cancel it when the speed reaches ~20x, quickly change to secure & restart the rip before the drive has stopped, it will pick the speed up from when it left off and continue to speed up as in burst mode ... but its a real pain in the but to go through that process each time.
Interestingly, my drive is a Pioneer DVR 112D & the DES Drive Features database suggests that the Pioneer DVR 112 doesn't support C2 errors although when I put a damaged disc in dbpoweramp reports that C2 errors are reported - maybe that's the difference between the 112 & 112D. If I turn off C2 error pointers, the drive accelerates in secure mode
