    Ripping errors

    Hello there,

    I hope someone can give me a hand with a problem I am having, will try my best to explain it.

    I've ripped 500 or so discs to date with no problem at all but yesterday it all turned bad.

    My media player stopped working at about the same time that the CD ripper stopped working.

    I managed to get the media player working again and it looks the the problem was that my nas ip address changed from 192.168.1.8 to 192.168.1.2. This confused the media player as it was mapped to the former IP address. The people at the media player help desk were really good and explained that I should point the player to the nas name rather than the ip address, this sorted that problem. I'm no IT expert and do not really understand IP addresses to be honest.

    The other problem is that I no longer seem to be able to rip cds. I get two errors.

    The first error is a windows error message which pops up at the bottom of the screen and says 'windows was unable to save all of the data for the file \\nas.....etc'. It goes on to say that "this error may be caused by a failure of your compute". This is not a spelling mistake, it is where the message ends which is not very helpful.

    The second error is the dbpoweramp error and goes as follows:
    Error ripping to FLAC, 'Track 3' to 'M:\Music\Robert Palmer\Addictions, Vol. 1\Robert Palmer - Addictions, Vol. 1 - 03 - Addicted To Love.flac'
    Error audio file failed verification 'M:\Music\Robert Palmer\Addictions, Vol. 1\Robert Palmer - Addictions, Vol. 1 - 03 - Addicted To Love.flac'.
    Error reading metadata

    Does any one know what is going on?

    I have tried playing with the 'path' to redirect to the nas.

    Thank you.

    Is it bad form to reply to your own messages? Anyway, here goes.

    I've tried changing my firewall settings to 'allow' rather than 'custom' for DP poweramp as I think that maybe the error is that the internet is not allowing verification.

    Turns out that this makes no difference and I still get the same error.

      Tried rebooting your PC?

      Then from Windows explorer browse to M:\ if you cannot see that drive then your NAS is not talking to the PC.

        Thank you for your response.

        I've tried rebooting but it does not work.

        I can see the drive letter mapped on windows explorer, I can see all of the music files and view photos.

        I had a slightly different error message this time though:

        Error ripping to FLAC, 'Track 1' to 'M:\Music\Robert Palmer\Honey\Robert Palmer - Honey - 01 - Honey A.flac'
        Unable to write to file 'M:\Music\Robert Palmer\Honey\Robert Palmer - Honey - 01 - Honey A.flac', disk full? [clEncoder::EncodeBlock]

        The disk is nowhere near full, I have only used about 25% of it so far.

          Browse to M:\Music\

          right click next to one of the music tracks/folders and select New >> Text Document type something into the document and save it, is there an error or can the text document be saved?

              I've just managed to rip a disc with no errors, not sure why as I have not changed any settings

                I spoke too soon, the second disc I tried did not rip:

                Error ripping to FLAC, 'Track 1' to 'M:\Music\Playgroup\Playgroup\Playgroup - Playgroup - 01 - Number One.flac'
                Unable to write to file 'M:\Music\Playgroup\Playgroup\Playgroup - Playgroup - 01 - Number One.flac', disk full? [clEncoder::EncodeBlock]

                  Re: Ripping errors

                  Something is stopping dBpoweramp from accessing that drive, change the path to Music (local to your system) then move the files after ripping.

                    Is that likely to be a permanent issue?

                    Thank you for your help.

                      I cannot know what is stopping your PC from accessing the NAS all the time.
