dbpoweramp WAV rips to iTunes with tags

Hi - I rip all my CD's into WAV and move them over to my Mac which uses iTunes to manage library content (will be playing through Amarra shortly). The obvious issue of course is that iTunes is not recognizing the ID3 tags that dbpoweramp embeds in the files.

Does anyone know of a solution to get itunes to recognize the tags? would be a huge timesaver as inputing manually is a royal pain... (the reason I do it, which is _not_ the point of this post is that I like the sound of WAV better than AIFF - higher SQ in a highly resolved system IMHO).
    Thanks

WAV files don't have tags inserted into them, except under extraordinary circumstances. WAV is not a compound file format like MP3, WMA and most modern media files.

What you're seeing in iTunes is its database record of tags matched to those files. So when you transfer the WAV files to another machine, the tags don't follow.

AIFF will have ID Tags which itunes can read, internally the data is 100% itentical in AIFF and WAV (you can install the Reference Codec Pack and there is a [Calculate Audio CRC] codec, convert the wave to AIFF then convert both the wave and AIFF to [Calculate Audio CRC], the shown number will be the same).

spoon - I love the aiff format on the mac bc of the tagging benefits. Flac isn't an option as I'm using iTunes (adding Amarra nxt week). I definitely don't want to start debates, but notwithstanding the bit perfect crc checks across types, I unquestionably have found wav to be superior sounding in my system. This is with blind testing as well. Others I know have come to the same conclusion based upon independent tests. Lots of discussion on this at audio asylum and audio circle. I have tried most of the available rippers on mac and windows and the hands down winner for me is dbpoweramp ripping wav (note again have not tested flac). Tagging is a real issue which is why I've not been ripping cd's for a while until I can try to sort this out. I have also tried a variety of wav to aiff conversions but same result occurs. Haven't tried isotope ex advanced for conversion but may give that a go as it's a pro quality engine.

iTunes will not read wave tags from any wave file.

Thanks Spoon, that's what I thought the answer would be....

I also rip to WAV with dBpoweramp. I use LIST tags which are part of the RIFF tagging scheme (I think). The are very much readable by Twonky, Songbook for Mac and PlugPlayer on my iphone, but not by iTunes. I have tried everything to get iTunes to read either LIST or ID3 tags but with the same result as you. I believe iTunes writes a separate tag as an associated file for WAV. You can easily do this by selecting the song and using the command I in itunes--but it's is far from automated.

Midnight, thanks for your feedback. have been doing additional work since your post but no success either. Sweet system btw :komisch12 I'm using a heavily modded Mini (ext Bolder cable PSU, SSD, ton of internal tweaks) running Amarra to Weiss DAC 2 for firewire I/O to Berkeley Alpha DAC as digital front end, so provides plenty of transparency to hear the little differences. the new Magico M3's are very tempting...
