Should Encoding be done same as source

While ripping/encoding from Redbook CD is it advisable to encode same as source or upsample it to 24/96? Assuming, of course, that the DAC supports 24/96.

Do you mean that you would not upsample at all or you would not upsample at the time of encoding?
