    Set File Naming assistance

What code do I use to accomplish the following track naming with either a single artist CD or a compilation?

    track number - artist - title - album title.flac

    Thanks.

I forgot to ask how to put the collection of tracks into a folder named:

      artist/album or various/album

      Thanks.

          Spoon:

"Various" will not show as the artist on a compilation folder using the scheme you suggested.

                Re: Set File Naming assistance

Hey. I noticed yesterday that using the suggested forumula does not put "Various" in front of a compilation title.

What I would like is for the word Various to precede the compilation title when it's a compilation, e.g.,

Various - Greatest Synthpop Hits from the 80's

                Is that possible?

                Thanks again.

The above formula will use the album artist name if there is one, otherwise Various Artists.

Instead you always want Various - Album?

Edited Spoon's suggestion above, try that.

                      Re: Set File Naming assistance

I'm reinstalling all software and forgot to save my dBpoweramp config.

I would like files to be saved as above but I dont want nested folders:

                      Artist - Album/track number - artist - track name

with all Various Artists albums to appear in the same way:

Various Artists - Album/track number - artist - track name

I probably could work it out but I defer to the expertise of the forum :smile2:

                        Re: Set File Naming assistance

Sorry to dredge up my old thread but I cannot seem to get the programming right on a reinstall of dBpoweramp.

I want the following naming if the album is not a comp:

                        [artist] - [album]\[track] - [title]

I want the following naming if the album IS a compilation:

                        [album]\[track] - [song artist] - [title]

I spent a good 60 minutes working on it but can't seem to get it right.

Also I'd like to suggest that the various and most common naming configs for tracks be built into dBpoweramp to be controlled with radio buttons in a future version.

Can someone help me with this issue again?

                        Thanks.

You would use "[IFCOMP]" as outlined by Spoon above, except for one issue:
dBpoweramp cannot tell a compilation CD from a non-compilation any better than the metadata providers can. If they don't identify it as such - then you have to do it manually. The simplest if you have one CD to rip, is tick the box. The simplest if you have a pile of them, is to store your non-comps naming code somewhere else (e.g. a .txt file) and enter your compilations naming scheme without any IFCOMP.
