    Another dumb newbie question...

I use iTunes to manage my music library and Foobar2000 to play the music. My question is: When ripping with dbpoweramp (wave) what should the "path" and "naming" category settings that I should use to get the albums straight to iTunes (library and music)...Thanking you in advance for answering another dumb question, I really appreciate the help...Bill.

PS: I have compared the rips between iTunes and dbpoweramp and dbpoweramp is far superior in sound quality.

iTunes should pickup anything in the Music folder on your system.

Spoon...Your answer does not answer my question.
When I use the default settings in dbpoweramp the file goes into "my music" as a folder (artists name) with a sub-folder (album name) with the songs contained in that folder, which then has to be imported to iTunes. When I import the folder into iTunes it goes in as unknown artist and album, with the songs out of order and listed as 01-song name. 02-song name, etc. What I want to know is what path puts the ripped album directly into iTunes with the album, artist, and songs correcly identified. If this can't be done it doesn't make any sense to use dbpoweramp even if it is a superior ripper and I won't spend my money to register after the trial is over...Thanks Bill.

PS: My OS is XP Pro Service Pack 3

I believe (though I am not sure about this) that when importing music, iTunes uses the metadata tags to determine artist, album, etc. not the file structure. If your files are not getting properly imported it is probably because your tagging is incomplete or incorrect.

I suggest checking the tag information stored in the files.

Steve...thanks for your reply. I am not sure how to do what you say. I did not add any ID Tag data, maybe you can explain. Thanx Bill.

If you are ripping to wave then iTunes cannot read the idtags from any wave file...use AIFF instead or Apple Lossless

When I rip wave files with iTunes the proper artist-album-song structure show up in iTunes music and library without having to change every bit of info in the file manually. Are there any settings in the "path" and "naming" fields that will do the same thing.

iTunes stores the IDTags in its own internal database - or put another way copy those wave files to another computer and add to iTunes an there will be no tags.

The Metedata function on my fairly new (3 months) Ripnas seems to have folded. The dbpoweramp ripping program seems to indicate that I need to install the Metadate programs (AMG and whaterver). When I go through the instructions to download programs that should be still unexpired, it doesn't work. It probides an order number (per instructions) but says there is nothing to download.

Hellp please. My ripped disks are no longer being identified.

RipNAS does not use CD Ripper for metadata (if you were to remote desktop in and look at dBpoweramp Configuration it will show as expired, this is correct), instead Batch Ripper is used which runs without any user interface.

When I select batch ripper among the dpa programs, nothing comes up. It's as though the batch ripper is NOT there. But, then, I'm pretty much a novice.

You do not need to remote desktop in, if you open a CD Ripper (even running Batch Ripper) then you will have 2 cd rippers running (which is not good) and will have to shut the ripnas down and restart (note once it is started it is ready to rip-cds nothing needs to be opened).
