CD Ripper generating errors

Hi all – I recently purchased dBpoweramp Reference R13. After closely following the set-up guide located at http://www.dbpoweramp.com/cd-ripper-setup-guide.htm and configuring the options accordingly (listed below), I tried ripping several CDs. Unfortunately, every CD that I have tried ripping has generated errors, even though most of these CDs are new and unscratched. The error logs for the first couple of tracks on one CD are shown below.

Wow -- thanks so much for the fast reply, Spoon! Disabling the C2 pointers worked and the CD ripped successfully this time.

Do you have any guess as to why C2 pointers aren't working when my drive was able to detect the errors when I ran the "Detect c2 Support" test? Could it be a firmware issue? Like many others here, I'm trying to get as clean a rip as possible so would ideally like to use C2 error pointers if possible...

Some laptop drives connect through USB internally and this can cause problems, or it could be a drive with a faulty c2 implementation.

Spoon -- after reading up more on C2 pointers (at http://dbpoweramp.com/secure-ripper.htm), I had one more follow-up question. Can I get a comparable quality rip with C2 enabled as I can with C2 disabled? I got the impression that C2 reduces strain on the CD drive but that the quality should be similar without it -- since ripping w/o C2 will still get things done but with additional/incremental re-reads...

Apologies for the basic questions -- I'm still getting up to speed on all of this. Thanks...

Without C2 you are at risk of never detecting consistent errors (if the disc is not in accuraterip).

Hello,

I am new to the forums and instead of creating a new thread, I thought I'd stick with this one concidering I am having the same issue as with what this person had. I have tried to rip this CD a few times just modifying the settings a little bit to see whether or not I could try and bypass this 'ERROR', but with no luck. I will just paste the log for the only track in the CD that is giving me the error. Even though that track is generating an error, physically the CD looks fine and plays absolutely fine in the current CD drive I have. Also had no troubles ripping it with EAC. My CD drive is capable of dectecting C2 errors.

You said EAC ripped the track, was that verified by AccurateRip?

It did not verify it as being accurate. But a few of the tracks were not accurate, which R13.2 also detected but put them through as being secure. TRACK 5 took much longer to rip with EAC, though went through easily with R13.2.

Without the tracks fully in AccurateRip you cannot be 100% sure that an error is not in the Rip (consistent error).

I am aware of that, but how was EAC able to complete the rip and R13 unable to on TRACK 01. I don't wanna procrastinate over this issue, but if there is a work around in secure mode to bypass this can I please be made aware of this. If there isn't, is it fair to say even though there were errors, that EAC still produced a quality rip? And being that it was in secure mode, what if I used burst mode (I am aware that this does not detect errors), will that produce a quality rip still? Despite the fact that this CD is obviously going to have errors no matter what.

If a track has errors no matter what, then potentially Burst ripping and secure ripping are the same- they both rely on the same end data from the DVD drive.
