Playing Audio CD in Ripper mode - problem???

If I load DBpoweramp & insert & CD it rips fine. However if I use the Play CD controls on the bottom left then the CD does not play normally at all. It starts of playing very, very slowly for about 10 secs before it plays normally. Any ideas what's happening? The drive also spins up quite loudly during this time.

By slowly, there are breaks in the playback? of is the audio slowed down?

The track plays incredibly slowly. ie. the audio is slowed down.

And if you play back with another software (such as WMP) when you start playback in CD Ripper, does that slow down?

Plays other S/W fine, eg. WMP, Winamp
