Repeated ejects with slot load drive

I've just started using a registered version of release 13.2 on a Dell Studio 1537 running Vista with a slot loading optical drive that shows up in Windows Device Manager as an "Optiarc DVD+-RW AD-7640S", but in CD Ripper as "Unknown - Unknown". It took it a while to find 3 usable key discs for AccurateRip (even using very common CDs), so I suspect the drive is a little crappy.

Anyway, the problem I have is that when CD Ripper ejects a disc, the optical drive continues to eject about 15 times after the disc pops out. That takes more time than it takes me to put the disc back in the jewel case and get the next one out. I don't seem to have that problem when I press the eject button on the laptop or when using other CD players/rippers such as iTunes or WMP.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The drive is not reporting it has ejected, so dBpoweramp is trying to eject and eject...
