    Aiff Tags

    Spoon,

Are you aware of why in .aiff rips, done with dBpa, the tags do not show in Media Monkey? Tags in .aiff ripped with iTunes show up in MM and tags ripped with dBpa show up in iTunes.

What may be the issue of dBpa tags and MM recognizing them. I know .aiff is not natively supported by MM, but if it can see tags ripped with iTunes, why not dBpa?

Is there a solution or workaround?

    Thanks.

First I have heard of it. Aiff uses an embedded ID3v2 chunk, it could be MM is looking for a specific version of id3v2?

I have no idea. What version does dBpa write to?

I know .aiff isn't terribly popular, and unfortunately everyone at MM is more concerned with their FLAC files and have refused to respond to my questions.

I was hoping to see if anyone else had similar issues. Someone who frequents this board has (screen name: Idolse) and he has had to hack up a workaround.

I was hoping it was just a tag version issue, and I was hoping that you, Spoon, had some magical solution. There is no way I am leaving my precious rips to iTunes, completely believe dBpa does the best job, but I need my rips' metadata to be correctly read in MM.

Do you have a contact at MM that could address this issue? Or do you developers not speak to each other too much?

Spoon, you are faithful to your subscribers by responding to their issues. I have not been so lucky at MM. Anything you can do?

      Thanks in advance....

        id3v2.3

You would have to raise the issue on the MM forum (after all if it works in iTunes which basically is AIFF).

          Thanks Spoon.

I will pester MM. Thank you for your thoughts on the matter.

            Spoon,

One last question. If I break down and convert my .aiff files to flac using dBpa converter, will my tags be preserved? Any particular settings for the conversion to facilitate it?

            Thanks

              Should all be preserved.
