    AccurateRip Configuration Question

    I'm new to dBpoweramp - currently testing the trial version of R13.1 to see if it will meet my needs. I used a bunch of old drives that I had laying around to build a dedicated ripping machine and ultimately want to test the batch ripper on this machine; however, I'm having issues getting AccurateRip configured on all the drives.

    There are six total drives. For these three, I was able to configure AccurateRip with a single key disk:
    -Pioneer DVD-303 Firmware 1.06
    -Plextor PX-W1210S Firmware 1.06
    -Plextor PX-W8220T Firmware 1.04

    However, for the other three, I keep getting the error "This Key Disc cannot be used for offset detection (it does not match the one stored in AccurateRips database), please try a different Key Disc."
    -TEAC CD-532S Firmware 1.0A
    -Plextor PX-40TS Firmware 1.14
    -Plextor PX-20TS Firmware 1.00
    I've probably tried 12-15 different discs in each of these drives, and all give the same result. I even get the error when trying the exact same discs that I used to configure AccurateRip on the other three drives.

    What's the best way to get AccurateRip working on these three drives? I'd rather not have to try all 800+ discs I plan to rip as key discs if at all possible.

    What offset is being found on the last 3 drives (and what is shown for them in on ARs DB?)

      Re: AccurateRip Configuration Question

      I'd originally started replying to the thread starter earlier today, saying something along the lines of "AccurateRip depends upon a drive providing both the Accurate Stream feature and also having a an offset that never changes". But I decided to double check and the daefeatures.co.uk site seems to indicate that at least two of the three problem drives seem to fit those requirements.

        Here's what's in the AR DB (pulled from http://www.accuraterip.com/driveoffsets.htm):

        TEAC CD-532S Firmware 1.0A: +92 / 14 / 100%
        Plextor PX-40TS Firmware 1.14: +676 / 235 / 100%
        Plextor PX-20TS Firmware 1.00: +681 / 17 / 100%

        Here's what I get in the log from dBpoweramp when I try to rip with these drives (all tracks fail with an "unable to read CD" error):

        TEAC CD-532S
        ================
        Ripping with drive 'F: [TEAC - CD-ROM CD-532S ]', Drive offset: 0, Overread Lead-in/out: No

          Can any other program rip with those drives (the old plextors cannot be used in batch ripper because a specific cmd set needs to be set).

            I tested with Windows Media Player 11, CDex (v 1.70), and Exact Audio Copy (v0.99).

            WMP11 can rip from the two Plextors without any issues, but can't rip from the TEAC.
            CDex couldn't rip from any of them using the Generic settings, but once I went through the AutoDetect drive type it was able to rip from all three without any issues.
            EAC was able to configure AccurateRip for all three drives (or at least it claimed it did) and rip successfully from all three. (According to the EAC installation, the three drives dBpoweramp is having issues with are the three best in my system for ripping)

            When you say the old Plextors can't be used in Batch Ripper, does that mean should give up now on my goal of loading six discs (one in each drive), clicking one button in software, and having all six discs be ripped without any additional interaction?

            =======================
            Update - I just figured out how to get the logs in EAC, so here's the headers from those just in case it matters...

              In dBpoweramp you would have to set the communication to 'D8' for the plextors, but this is a global change and will stop the other drives from working.

                Is that in reference to getting the two other Plextors to work with AccurateRip, or is that the reason they won't work with the batch ripper?

                  Re: AccurateRip Configuration Question

                  Because either all drives are D8 or they are not, modern drives will not work with D8.

                    I got that part. What I'm still not clear about is this:
                    Is setting the drives to D8 only related to getting the drives to work in the batch ripper, or is it also the reason that the accurate rip configuration isn't working?

                    Update: I'm also not entirely sure which of my Plextors count as "old" for the purposes of this discussion. Is it all four, our just some of them?

                      Yes it would stop AR from working also.
