Can't get my cdrom configured on new IBM laptop

Today I got my new Lenovo W500 laptop. After inserting some 'key discs' (like Madonna Ray of Light, Amy MacDonald) which are recognized as key discs, I get the error that "This Key Disc cannot be used for offset detection (it does not match the one stored in AccurateRips database), please try a different Key Disc.

Never had any problems ripping 300+ cd's on my old laptop. Reading and playing is no issue, just offset setup. Drive is detected as "HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-U20N".

    Any help is much appricated!

I have a Thinkpad T60p with an internal HL-DT-ST - DVDRAM GSA-4083N, which is a different model, that works just fine.

    Some suggestions:

    1. Make sure your key discs are clean and scratch free.
    2. Verify you aren't using a filter driver that might interfere with some of the more esoteric IO commands.
    3. Try an external optical drive and see if the problem continues.
    4. See if there's a supported firmware upgrade from IBM/Lenovo for the drive and, if so, install it.

Assumption: you're using dbpoweramp and not EAC to do the initial accuraterip configuration.

If this drive is not in the accuraterip drive database (you can look from accuraterip.com) then a special key disc is required, one without multiple pressings.

Ok, that drive was not yet in the database. I tried a couple of lesser known cds and now it's configured! And another drive added to the database :smile2:

        Thanks, Ralph
