    Peak level

    I wonder what is the purpose and utility of the peak level appearing in every EAC log?

    Code:
    Track  9

         Filename U:\Take Me Down.wav

         [COLOR="red"]Peak level 97.9 %[/COLOR]
         Track quality 100.0 %
         Test CRC C73B6BF9
         Copy CRC C73B6BF9
         Accurately ripped (confidence 112)  [011D1B79]
         Copy OK

    All tracks accurately ripped

    No errors occurred
    Any idea?

    Thanks

    You would have to ask on the EAC forum.

      Re: Peak level

      Peak level is an indication of the loudness of the loudest parts of the track. So 97.9% means that the biggest peak on the track took up 97.9% of the largest sample size that a CD can hold.

      It's used to normalise the resulting audio if you want to make every track on an album appear to be at the same volume.
