    Question about the "secure setting"...

...which I normally only use if my disc is not found in AccurateRip.

I recently upgraded to the registered version 13 (actually 13.1 beta to be exact) and I noticed something different about this version as opposed to previous ones.

When I am using the "secure" rip setting, the program only rips the tracks once and then normally reports the rip as being "secure". This is different from previous versions, because with r12, when using this feature, it would rip the tracks twice and compare them before reporting that it was secure.

So, since it is only doing one pass and coming back as secure, can someone tell me how the program "knows" that it is secure? What is it comparing the rip to, if anything, to come up with this information?

    Thanks.

Re: Question about the "secure setting"...

    1. Is the disc in AccurateRip?

    2. Did it match?

    3. Is C2 turned on?

      1. No, that is why I am using the secure setting.

      2. See #1 above.

      3. Yes, C2 is turned on.

Ok. Look at the flow here: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/secure-ripper.htm

        Specifically, the left side above.

If C2 is enabled, AND the disc is not in accuraterip, AND no frames were marked bad via C2 in the first pass, AND you don't have the optional ultra passes enabled...then there are no passes left to do.

In this case if you are worried, I would enable 1-3 optional ultra passes.

Also, definitely verify your drive gives good C2 error information.

I do not have an answer. It's a collective wisdom thing at this point. State the model, and others might give the thumbs up or down. Or just silence.

Well, it's a model from Lite-On and I bought it at NewEgg. Here is the exact one...
