    FLAC tags/album-art questions

I've just downloaded the Reference edition trial to evaluate for archiving my CD collection into FLAC, and wow, this is one excellent app.. I think I'm all set except for several questions:

    1) I've tried to determine definitively whether the FLAC tags in your codec follow the Ogg Comments format (vs. ID3) for future-proofing/compatibility, and I think they're coming out ID3 in my test rips. I'm such a newbie, I'm not sure how to tell. (Heck, for that matter, do you think it's worth worrying about?

2.) On my WinXP machine, when I navigate in Explorer over to my folder for FLAC test rips and click on the file, Picture and Fax viewer grabs the file and opens the album art and shows the related FLAC file down in the corner of the screen.. It is making me wonder if my settings are somehow incorrect. Under options, I've tried "save album art to folder, filename.. etc" but end up with the same result.. (trial rips to LAME using your app do not exhibit this problem, however.) In case it matters, my naming structure is as follows:

    [IFCOMP][IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],Various Artists[]\[album][IFMULTI] Disc [disc][]\[artist] - [title][][IF!COMP][IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],[artist][]\[album]\[artist][] - [title]

    Any input appreciated.. Thanks!

Unless you set ID3 in the options, we write vorbis comments. Hold the mouse over 1 file and dbpoweramp will display the tag type on one of the lines.

Windows will not know what a FLAC file is.
