    ディナ・キャロル

I've just ripped a Dina Carroll cd and the ripper has created the folder path and track titles with the characters shown in the title of this post.

I've also noticed a rip of Pink Floyd Dark Side of The Moon that has upside down question marks.

Any ideas as to what's causing this?

    I'm using release 13

    Cheers

Normal questions marks are not allowed in filenames, so dMC subsitutes upside-down question marks in the file name.

The default PerfectMeta (Intelligent Lookup). That in turn appears to look at:-

        All Media Guide
        GD3
        MusicBrainz
        Freedb
        TrackType

I have the standard annual subscription that comes with purchasing dbpoweramp, that I purchased about a month ago tops.

          Sensible I guess, Cheers.

Press the meta button to get the meta data, then press ALT + M to see which providers gave which results.

AMG is the culprit. I changed to Freedb and all is well.

Is there a way of setting the hierarchy of these providers?

                No, its all internal rules.

Is this an international artist? Or an international release? Is there some reason this may be more correct?

I have been arguing since the release of PerfectMeta that AMG is weighted to heavily. We need multiple freeDB results (their DB holds more then one entry), and it would be nice to add Discogs. Also, now that Gracenote is under new ownership I don't know if there rules have changed.

Can you post a screen shot of the perfectmeta results?

I could find 50 discs in about 1 hour in all databases (freedb, amg, gracenote, gd3, musicbrainz) which are wrong, there is no perfect database, PerfectMeta helps, if you visually see something wrong then press ALT + M and click the button of the provider which had it right.

                    Re: ディナ・キャロル

Spoon, I know all the meta db have errors. But from what I have seen there are many times when there are errors in AMG that are not caught because the algorithm used in PerfectMeta assumes that AMG is the best source - at least this is what I assume when I am looking at the results. Hopefully as PerfectMeta matures there will be very little need to review the results - something a PerfectMetaDB might help - by aggregating the manual changes and submissions of dBpoweramp users.

Also, freeDB usually has 2 entries per disc. In my experience 1 is usually significantly better then the other. By only grabbing 1 of them at random freedb is being significantly underutilized IMHO.

                      You're assuming I know what I'm doing ;-)

I'm new to all this ripping and tagging lark. The Alt + M pop-up gave me 3 or 4 columns of results, presumably made up of the databases included in the PerfectMeta grouping I gave further up in this thread. AMG was hopelessly wrong, giving the results I started this thread with, the others all had the same results IIRC. I just picked on freebd.

I'm guessing that Dina Carroll does count as an international artist, as to it being an international release, I have no idea. It's an old CD in our collection and one bought by my wife ;-) so I don't have a great deal of knowledge about its origins.

I could post a screen shot, but that involves me digging out the CD again just to prove a point. Hopefully the content of this post will prove sufficient?

                      Cheers

Sounds like Eli is right and the AMG results appear to be overriding several other matching or near matching results?

No, if Musicbrainz + freedb matched that would be used. If GD3 + Musicbrainz matched then that would be used. THe only one which is not used together is gd3 + freedb.
