    Ripping Multiple Cd Sets?

If I have a multiple CD set how do I finish one disc and then pop in the next and have the second disc just add onto the first as one file? It keeps asking me if I want to overwrite or not and I am saying "no".

    Example:
Disc one has 10 tracks of studio material labeled 1 through 10
Disc two has 4 live tracks with the same titles as some of those on disc one.
I'd like them to show up as 14 tracks labeled 1 through 14, all under the same cover art.

    Thanks,
    Russ

I forget the exact procedure, but it sounds like you want to set a "Track Offset" of 10 on the second disc. I think you can do this by right-cliking on a track, but I'm not sure as I normally don't use this feature.

        Hello
Thanks for that. Have done that and the cds rip as 101 - 10n, 201-20n etc perfectly! PROBLEM when I then view these on my NAIM phone app the tracks have renumbered as eg 1-138 all in the correct order but no clue as to which disc they are from. Can you help explain why on db poweramp they show as Click image for larger version

          Re: Ripping Multiple Cd Sets?

If you apply a track number offset, you would set Disc 2 disc number to 1/1 and disc 3 to 1/1, so the tracks all appear from the same disc.

            Hello
I am setting the disc as 1/1 for each disc in the multi disc set. They come out looking right in dbpoweramp (eg 101-10n, 201-20n etc) but when I use my NAIM app they all appear re-numbered from 1 to n to +100/+200 etc has disappeared and they come out in the correct order starting with 1 and going up to the total number of tracks.

To be clear you are applying a track offset, not just renaming the filenames to the correct order?

                Hello
I right click on the original track number and add an offset +100 to disc 1; +100+100 to disc 2 and so on.

Help my understand you pictures, the first picture 'Asset view.png' is a picture of Windows explorer showing 'Dory Previn' tracks, yet the other images do not show this artist (as far as I can tell).

                    Trying to clarify it more.

One attachment follows in next message.

                    Hello

I am using dbPoweramp and Asset uPnp on QNAP as recommended by Naim staff.

I want to put multicd sets into a single file so that a five disc opera appears as one file with cd 1 tracks prefaced by +100, cd 2tracks prefaced by +200, cd 3 tracks prefaced by +300 and so on.

For this example I ripped only 2 tracks from disc 1 and 2 tracks from disc 2 using the fastest rip available.

I put cd 1 into my computer drive. When it appears in Dbpoweramp I amend the tag information and I add an offset to the track number of +100 for cd1 and +200 for cd2 and so on. I make sure that the details are the same for each disc. In the samples I am sending to you I called the disc aaaa and removed such things as dates etc to ensure that the programs saw the 2 cds as one.

See – Dbpowerampviewreadytorip – Track numbers offset and information reduced to minimise any error risk and the tag string is as shown.

I ripped 2 tracks from cd 1 (tracks 1 and 12 and as you can see they appear as 101 and 112 exactly as I want). I then ripped 2 tracks from cd 2 (tracks 2 and 9 with an offset of +200 they show as tracks 202 and 209 as I want) and they appeared in the folder on my PC as in attachment - Computerfolderview as I want, in one album in Asset uPnp as 4 tracks.

I then sent the file to QNAP – see attachment QNAPAssetview. The 4 tracks all show correctly clearly showing the tracks from disc 1 as +100 and the tracks from disc 2 as +200 so I can tell which disc in a multi set the track is from.

I checked the id tag for each track and as shown in ID tag for track the track numbers were as I wanted +100 and + 200 respectively.

I looked at the album of 4 tracks on GROOVE and as you can see on GROOVEMUSIC view the tracks show exactly as I want +100 and +200 respectively.

I then went to the NAIM app on my phone NAIMview. The 4 tracks are in the correct order but are re-numbered as track 1, 2, 3 & 4. I want the track shown as in all four other views ie 101, 112,202 and 209.

Do you have the following option ticked?
Asset UPnP Configuration >> Advanced Settings >> [track no.] - [title] for album tracks

                          Hey Paul,

aside the point that your naming scheme (offset for multidisc) looks strange and not very elegant to me, I think, that your problem is not one of CDRipper, but rather on of the NAIM app, which represents a running number followed by the track name instead of the filename as you wish.

I agree with Dat Ei, the app is always showing the first track as 1... 2nd as 2, no matter what track number it really has.

                              Hello again
NAIM came back to me this morning saying ......
"This is unfortunately the standard number formatting for the Naim app and does not change but it will still order the tracks correctly by the numbering system you have used. You can get the numbering to show in the title of the track by adding the number to the Title tag in the metadata of the track, if you don’t have a program that can edit metadata you can try MP3Tag which is what I have used to test your issue on our systems.

The tests I tried ended up showing “01. 101 – Battery” as the track title, I am not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for but it has been the closest to replicating the formatting you have been using."

Is it possible to combine track number (the 101 etc track number) with the title of the track [track] + [title] to achieve this- “101. 101 – name of the track” or has the track title got to be changed individually by typing in the wanted number (101 etc)
                              Thanks
                              paul
