    CD ripper mis-reads track names

I came across an interesting issue where the CD ripper is mis-reading track names on a CD. If I simply play the CD with media player, media player displays the names correctly. I have 2 optical drives in my system and they both display the same. So far I've only discovered this with 1 CD. Anyone else ever run into this? Below is the clipboard output from CD ripper (I removed the genre and rating info). Track 4 and Track 7 have the same name. Track 4 is correct. Same with Track 5 and 8 where track 5 is correct. Track 11 is also incorrect. Track 11 contains only part of the correct name for track 7. Interestingly the 3 tracks that have incorrect names are all medley tracks like track 9. I am wondering if possibly the names are longer than standard length.

Re: CD ripper mis-reads track names

Where did the CD Ripper retrieve the album information from AMG or Freedb? Incorrect track names can occur sometimes especially when different countries can end up with slightly different versions of the same album.

Windows Media Player retrieves its album information from a Microsoft Server I think (or it used to). Another source is CDDB which is used by Nero.

Well... don't I feel dumb. I thought that info was from the CD not a database. The bad info came from AMG. I pointed CD ripper to freedb and the info is now correct.

      Thanks for tip!

Check your security software is not blocking access, if you have a firewall program it should enable CD Ripper. In dBpoweramp Configuration >> Music Converter, the option 'Allow dBpoweramp to Access Internet' should be checked.
