Batch converting 1,000+ albums, affect on computer hardware?

Maybe a ridiculous question, but what effect would batch converting 1,000+ albums (from AIFF to MP3) in one go have on a computer? I think batch converting 1,000 albums would take my laptop roughly 8 hours to accomplish. Guessing it'd be pretty taxing on the processor, cooling fans, etc. running pretty hot for hours on end.

Anybody run into any problems with this?

I just purchased a brand new Macbook Pro with the following specs. Maybe I'm paranoid, but should I be concerned?
    • 3.5GHz dual-core 7th-generation Intel Core i7 processor
    • 16GB of 2133MHz LPDDR3 memory

Are you converting from a local hard drive to a local hard drive?

External hard drive, connected to the laptop via USB.

In other words, the AIFF source folder to MP3 output folder are located on that same external drive.

Yes, the laptop will get warm, but if built to spec, you have no flac file corruption and you are not located in the Sahara, then I don't foresee any issues.

I batch convert my flac library, 2500+ albums to mp3 overnight, no problems.

The modern intel cpus will self slow down if get too hot. It should not be possible to damage the system from taxing it.

            Cool! Thanks, guys.

Just learned about CPU temperature throttling. Just watched a guy on Youtube put his Macbook in a pan of water (after sealing all ports, no fans or intakes on that particular model) to test a water-cooling effect on CPU performance. Water cooling, in-fact, doubled CPU performance. Interesting stuff.
