how long does it take

I am using batch convert to change about 3500 cd's from wma to flac. I have been waiting 20 minutes for the list to generate and there is no progress bar so AI can not tell if this is working right. How long should it take to get the list on the screen. Also is there a way to select multiple artists and generate a conversion list. It seems like I would have to click on every artist to do this. Is there a simpler way?
