The files will be corrupted, the error is a file processing error which happens at the point of reading metadata, there is no requirement for a FLAC file to have metadata.

so that means the only way is to manually enter the metadata for each track before converting?

iTunes doesn't require AIFF for a lossless format. Wouldn't Apple Lossless be a better choice? Yes, it is compressed but like FLAC it doesn't lose any quality like MP3 does.

Apple Lossless is an option but I have plenty of space and prefer uncompressed.

Quite a few years back, when High End Audio was transitioning into computer based servers for front end there were a lot of questions on what was preferred for audio format. At the time the consensus was flac for a backup copy over apple lossless because its open source. Aiff for the playback copy because its uncompressed as long as you have the storage capacity. Comparisons between the lossless and uncompressed for playback sometimes aiff sounded better than the others. Not like comparing a lossy to a lossless difference but subtle nuances. While flac and apple lossless are theoretically same as uncompressed they still need to go through process. Its a couple extra terrabytes needed for uncompressed, for me thats ok
