Converting FLAC to MP3 slow

Hi all,

Is it to be expected that when I convert FLAC to MP3 the conversion rate will drop to x0,5 or worse?
I seem to recall this being much faster in the past.

I am on a 64-bit windows 8.1 system, with an Intel i5-3570K CPU and 8 GB of RAM.

My logic may be wrong, but I can rip CD's in no time to FLAC, so why would I expect going from FLAC to MP3 (for my car) to take so much longer?

Sorry, found the error.

I mistakingly ripped directly to the SD-card (USB 3.0 interface to Class4 SD-card).
This caused the problems!
Converting to desktop and copying afterwards solved the problem (back at ~x200 conversion rates).
