delete source files after conversion

I want to convert a bunch of aiff files to mp3. They are all located on a external drive. I'm using batch converter, R14.4. I've added the DSP effect to delete files after conversion. The deletion type is set to permanently delete. I've done a test on 10 files and it converts fine but no deletion when complete. Running win7 home that is fully up to date.

I've ran this a couple of times and still no joy on the deletion of the source files.:(

Perhaps the files are set as read only, or the user account does not have the rights to delete those files.
