Where has all of my music gone?

I hope that you can help with my query - this afternoon I added two folders with a total of six track to my music collection, some time later asset would only show the folders and not the contents (I've checked that the files are there. I then told asset to 'rescan'- two hours later Asset now only shows folders, it doesn't show any content in any folder. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?
