raspbian edition

Just bought a Raspberri Pi 3 to install asset upnp, I'm installing a Raspberry Pi operating system image on an o GB micrSD card.
I have 2 questions:
1) which raspian deition have I to use to support assetupnp ? is the Raspbian Stretch Lite enough or do I need to install Raspbian Stretch with desktop or
Raspbian Stretch with desktop and recommended software ?

2) does an 8GB microSD can store raspbian + asset upnp ?

You can try the non desktop version first, 8gb is fine.
