For instrument I am sure this tag is not saved as a multi-item tag, it expects a single item only.

The tables are not preloaded, they are handled internally.

I have Asset 6.1 on Windows, and the setting is t_instrument,3,INTEGER. I'm pretty sure I haven't changed this value.

I am using Musichi tagger and under genre, for example, it allows you to populate with preselects that start with numbers, and "(01.10) Orchestral Music>March" in Musichi results in "Classic Rock" in AssetPlayer.

Could you test in another player, e.g. foobar, and see what the result is?
