    Vanishing Assets

Asset R6 Premium, Win 7 Enterprise

Trying to create and configure multiple Asset instances resulted in crashes,
followed by instances vanishing. Here are the steps I went through.

    1 Uninstall Asset R5.1.

    2 Install Asset R6.
(Note: Not all traces of R5.1 were uninstalled -- R6 inherited registration
    and settings from R5.1.)

3 Rename default instance of R6 to Asset Jazz.

4 Create new instance named Asset Classical.

5 Both instances working OK, as verified locally by Asset Control and
    remotely by Kodi.

6 Modify browse tree of Asset Jazz; Asset restarts.

7 Windows informs me that uMediaLibrary has crashed.

8 Restart Asset from Asset Config. Asset Jazz has vanished from
Defined Asset Instances. Nevertheless, Asset Jazz is still working,
as verified by both Asset Control and Kodi!

9 Restart computer. In Asset Config > Defined Asset Instances there
are 4 lines: Asset Classical, blank, [Create Additional Asset],
    [Delete Selected Asset].

But Asset Control and Kodi both show Asset Jazz up and
running and I can play files from it!

10 In Asset Config > Defined Asset Instances select the blank line and
click Edit Advanced Settings. The settings are the same as
    Asset Classical. Click OK.

A new instance of Asset Classical is created. Now I have two
identical instances of Asset Classical and no instance named
Asset Jazz. But, according to Asset Control, there is one
Asset Classical and one Asset Jazz, and both are running and
    ready to stream.

11 In Asset Config > Defined Asset Instances select the second
Asset Classical, then click [Delete Selected Asset].
    Asset Config hangs.

12 Terminate Asset Config and re-launch. Only 1 instance shows in
Asset Config > Defined Asset Instances, the default one named
Asset UPnP: [ComputerName]. No Asset Classical, no
    Asset Jazz.

Asset Control shows Asset Jazz running and streaming as
before, and Asset Classical running, but with no tracks.

    What now?

    Thanks.

You need to install R6.1 which is in testing here:

<Released> Install over the top of existing version to retain registration status (WHS users, remote desktop connect to WHS, copy install to a created c:\install folder and run installer from there on WHS ). Changes: mp3 Orchestra tagging override option Bug Fix: TCP Socket could infinite loop on certain systems Bug

So far, so good. uMediaLibrary crashed a couple of times, but it recovered quickly. Three defined Asset instances, everything seems to be working as it should. My impression is that any changes in the Advanced Settings while the library is being scanned causes a uMediaLibrary crash.

Not a crash I think, rather Asset has to restart uMediaLibrary as the changes might affect the scanning.

Well, Windows said it was a crash. But it doesn't matter, as a long as Asset does what it's supposed to, and, so far, it does.
