    VSX529 flack playback issues

    Hi All,

    It's my first post here.
I have Pioneer VSX529. Seems to be similar to VSX824. I am facing issue playing FLAC audio files over network.
First few seconds the sound is OK and then it start to pitches.
    Here is a video www.youtube.com/watch?v=kc9m6xVWk2g

MP3 playback is ok but the quality is awful.
Anyone have same issues ? Any idea how to solve it ? It is very annoying.

It is wired? or there is wireless involved (between the music source >> asset >> pioneer)

      Re: VSX529 flack playback issues

Please can you describe your setup (PCs, network etc.) in more detail?

... and as Spoon has asked, is your network wi-fi or ethernet cabled?

        Thank you for prompt replies.
OK. Here is the setup. A TP link 100Mb Wi-Fi router. Internet provider cable is attached to WLAN port.
On the LAN ports I have wired:
        - a desktop PC
        - a VSX529 AV receiver
        - a 2TB WD MyClound NAS with DLNA support.

Wi-Fi is used only for mobile devices.

          I got following answer:

Are you playing these files through Windows Media Player 11 of 12?
Audio files recorded in MPEG-4 AAC or FLAC cannot be played back on Windows Media Player 11 or Windows Media Player 12. Try using another server.
Uncompressed FLAC files are also not supported.

Where can I found a list of supported media servers ?

FLAC files are stored on WD MyClould NAS with DLNA.

Last night I gave another try. I tried to play FLAC files from USB. The result was same as for network play. The sound is crap. I contacted Pioneer support.

We believe the main issue here is the connection between the VSX-529 and the My Cloud.
First we would like you to check if your firewall isn't blocking the songs from getting played.
Also check if there aren't any problems with your router. Make sure you connect the receiver to the same router as the My Cloud.

The setup for filesharing etc. can be quite difficult as well. It might be possible that something isn't correctly set up on the My Cloud, which would cause the VSX-529 to not connect properly.
It might be best to check with Western Digital first, to make sure everything is set up correctly.
