Populating the library

Out of frustration with Plex, I have downloaded Asset to try it out.

I have installed the application on my Macbook Pro as the media server, and configured it to identify where the music folders are stored (also on the Macbook) but it is not showing any files (0 tracks, 0 albums). Until I can sort that out I obviously can't get Kinsky (or any other player) to work.

What am I not doing?

Try restarting the Macbook Pro and in Asset UPnP Configuration click Refresh All.

Thanks. I just tried that without any success. I still get an unpopulated library.

If you open finder and choose Go to Folder from the drop menu, and type that path, it opens a page showing your music?

I'm not sure if you're asking me if the folder named Media/Music contains my music, the answer is yes it does. That's my problem. I know where my music is but Asset doesn't seem to.

I even set up an entirely new folder, put some music in it and pointed Asset to that address - no success. I have deleted and re-installed Asset - no success.

If you type the full path check it appears when browsing.

Yes, if I put the full path /users/nicholson2002/media/music, I get taken to the music.

What if you put some file of another type in your music folder?

If you install trial version of dBpoweramp for mac, is it able to read your AIFF files?

Can you send a sample of your AIFF files to peter@dbpoweramp.com for analysis?

I am curious to know why this isn't working. My set up is similar to yours (with earlier Mac book Air). My path is /Users/johnparker/music and Asset picks up everything.

Can you send a sample of your AIFF files to peter@dbpoweramp.com for analysis?

Great suggestion! I"m already a registered owner of dBpa so it was easy to convert one of the CDs from aiff to flac. It worked! I've got to just work out now what's the problem with aiff.

I am embarrassed. I just realised that I had inadvertently 'excluded' aiff files in the configuration. Duh.
