Artists of Compilation albums show up as one track album under Albums.

I added several compilation albums to the music library on my server. Now every artist on that compilation shows up as a separate 1 track album under Albums in Asset UPNP. Is there a way to avoid this, either by re-tagging or settings in Asset? I rip with CUERipper.

Asset UPnP determines compilation albums by checking the Compilation tag. So, if you rip with CUERipper, I suspect the Compilation tag is not set. Try setting the Compilation tag = 1.

What does the Album Artist tag contain, if anything?

Yes either the album artist has to be the same for all tracks, or the compilation tag set.
