Three music libraries - how to segregate?

    Hey folks,

On my QNAP NAS I have three distinct libraries of music:

    1) iTunes - a big, sprawling mess with duplicates, missing coverart and all sorts of anomalies. But, there's music in here I can't replace so I wish to keep as is.
    2) My stuff, exclusively FLAC - my main library of new and existing music, all beautifully tagged and perfect for coverart etc.
    3) Family stuff - common or garden music, all FLAC again, which other members of the family enjoy

I want to keep these libraries separate as they're all relatively huge. I don't want granny (for example) having to trawl through all my stuff to find her Chris De Burgh, and likewise I don't want to see her Chris de Burgh when I'm trying to impress my friends.

I guess I can run three different uPnP media servers on my NAS - maybe Twonky pointed at the iTunes, Minim at the family stuff and Asset pointing at my stuff, but this seems inelegant.

Can I delineate the three libraries under one instance of Asset, or is there a nice, elegant solution to my problem that I've not considered?

    Many thanks in advance!

    Cleggy.

R6 will allow this, it is in testing now for Windows, but does not exist currently for other platforms.

You could have a custom tag, eg. Collections, and tag Collections=iTunes, Collections=My Stuff and Collections=Family respectively for your three collections. Then index the Collections tag and make new trees in Asset, starting with Collections as the top entry in the chain. Add Artist, Album Artist, Genre etc as children to Collections.

I think this would work fine on a desktop. On a NAS probably too, but I'm not sure since I don't use them.
