When I stream music to my Naim Superuniti, it seems to run via the computer upstairs and therefore is buffering on high quality music.

Is there a way to enhance the performance apart from hard wiring my network ?

It's certainly worth trying an ethernet cabled network, instead of using the Powerline adapters, to see if it resolves the problem.

Also will my computer need to always be on when using the server.

Yes, the computer running Asset needs to be on.

I have just purchased asset and think its just what I have been looking for.

However my NAS drive a WDMycloud is located downstairs and the control computer I use is upstairs connected via a Power line Adaptor.
