ASSET 5.2 in Windows does not scann muslic library

Today I upgraded Asset 5.1 to 5.2. I rebooted my compouter several times. I could not get v 5.2 to scan my large music library. It never appeared to start scanning. I then uninstalled Asset 5.2 and reinstalled Asset 5.2 again, rebooted the computer and Asset would not scan my music library. Previously v 5.1 worked well with my music library containing about 117,000 files.

What happens if you do a Rescan (Refresh All)?

Dear All,

Not been here for a while and I may have a similar problem. I have a Naim muso and Netgear ReadyNas Duo which stores most of my music. When I go through a laptop I can see all of my music but not through the Naim app/interface. I was advised that Asset could fix this Netgear glitch.

I am not great with computers but I installed the free Asset version into the Readynas music folder itself, I see a shortcut on my windows desktop as well. I can see the Asset UPNP on the network but nothing in the folders. How can I add my library assuming my installation was done the right way. This may be too basic for you guys but please help and break it down for me. I refreshed all, reinstalled etc but no joy.

As I mentioned, I can see that asset is on the network...

Asset would not work on the ReadyNas, so you must have installed it on your Windows PC. You would run asset in the local account (not service which is default) then in the advanced page you add the network share to the music folder on the readynas, before doing this open windows file explorer and make sure you can browse to the music folder and see the music tracks on the readynas from your windows pc.

Spoon, you are a star thank you very much that worked and for the first time in 5 years I can see my whole NAS music library. It took a while and when i went to sleep the library was still scanning 40,000...files.

Minor hiccup, there is a duplicate Asset appearing on my Naim app. I went into my lap...control panel>programs> and only saw one file in there. The second asset is empty and the correct one has all that I ever need. Also, how can I get the right album covers for the songs.

I am forever grateful.

Ps also does the laptop need to be on all the time?

Just to confirm, you are running Asset R5.2 on a Windows laptop (which OS?), your audio library files are resident on the Netgear ReadyNas Duo and your player app is the Naim app?

For Asset to serve files to the Naim app, the laptop needs to be on/running.

On the laptop, how many instances of Asset-uPNP.exe are running (check using the task manager)?

Also, how can I get the right album covers for the songs.

What file format are your audio files? Is there any existing artwork for the files, either embedded or as an image file within an album folder?

If you do a full restart of the laptop the duplicate should go away.

Your laptop needs to be on, unless you go for example a QNAP where asset can run directly on the QNAP.
