Multi disk cd's

Hi I have a new Simaudio neo ACE and a new QNAP HS 251 nas with WD 3TB RED hd.

All is working fine apart from one problem, all my multi disk cd's are showing as separate albums instead of one album, I have ripped using DBPOWERAMP v 16 and made sure the album title is the same on both cd's removed "Disk1, Disk2" etc. Yet when I load the album onto my nas Asset has each cd as a separate album and reinserted "Disk 1" or "Disk2" into the album title.

I have tried editing the metadata using dbpoweramp and mp3tag but nothing works, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried Refresh All in Asset UPnP Configuration, to refresh the Asset UPnP database?

... OR maybe this is an issue with the client software/firmware.

The 'disc' number should be 1/1 for all albums and the track numbers for disc 2 should continue after disc 1, an easy way is to set disc 2 tracks to start at 100, disc 3 200, etc.

Disc number should be 1/1 for all albums? Is this something new? All my albums are 1/2, 2/2 (where appropriate) and have been for years and I have never had a problem. This logic renders the disc number tag redundant.

For single disk CDs I leave disc number blank (don't include that field). For multidisk CDs, I use 1/2, 2/2, etc. The tracknumbers start over for each disk (1 to n). Each disc of a multidisk album is stored in a separate folder under album, for example:

music\flac\Van Morrison\Too Late To Stop Now, Vol 1\Disc 1\01 - xxxxx.flac
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,\Disc 2\01 - xxxx.flac

I wonder if this is an issue only with ASSET. I don't have any issues with this metadata or file naming scheme using LMS and squeezeboxes, foobar2000, roon, or Sonos.

Yes, similar to me but not quite the same. Single CDs, disc number is 1/1 and all files for a single album are in a single folder, in the format [disc].[track] [artist] - [title].flac. Never noticed a problem, even in Asset, so I was surprised by Spoon's post.

if you have a 2 disk album, do all your files end up in a *single* album subdirectory, with file names such as 1.01 - title, 1.02 - title, 2.01 - title, 2.02 - title? And assuming yes, these work fine in ASSET I presume?

Yes

makes sense. Maybe if the CDs are in different subdirectories ASSET treats as separate albums labeled disk 1, disk 2, etc. The original poster needs to clarify a bit how the files are organized and not just the metadata, in case that's the difference.

Plus, I assume that for the OP, in CD RIPPER OPTIONS > Metadata and TAG ID Options, the item "Multi CD Add Disk to Album" is set to "never".

Hi sorry for the late reply.

As a test i have just rip two double CD albums by Dougie MacLean, "Essential" and "Essential Too"

Album 1 "Essential" cd 1 12 tracks, cd 2 13 tracks, ripped using DBPOWERAMP v 16, metadata all metadata checked before ripping album title the same no Disk1 etc !/2 & 2/2.

Album 2 "Essential Too" cd 1 13 tracks, cd 2 13 tracks, ripped using "Track Number Offset" giving one album of 26 tracks.

Albums loaded onto my qnap nas, same results, each album are two separate albums with Disk1 & Disk2 in the album name(including Track Number Offset) yet when i check the metadata with dbpoweramp & mp3tag there is no Disk1 &Disk2 in the album name and all track numbers are corect.

Folder structure - eg - Pink Floyd, the Wall, album artist / album all tracks in "album folder" should i place each cd in a separate folder in the "album folder"

see what happens when you have each disc in a subdirectory under album name. Example

pink Floyd/the wall/disc 1/tracks ...
pink Floyd/the wall/disc 2/tracks...

I miss read that he wanted the 3 albums to show as one album with all the tracks listed in that one album.

There is an option in Asset Configuration 'Multi-Disc Albums show as Album, Disc x' you want to uncheck this.

First sorry for all the confusion yesterday, i am still recovering from a stroke an was very tired last night and did not explain my problems well.

Thank you this has worked perfectly, all my multi disk albums now show as one album and not two.
